Whether you’re a seasoned player or new to the game, it’s essential that you’re taking steps to stay healthy and prevent pickleball injuries. Here are some tips from our friends at HIT Results Fitness:

Footwear:

Wear court shoes or tennis shoes designed for lateral movement and support.

Stretching:

Incorporate dynamic stretching and movements like lunges, arm circles, and knee lifts into your warm-up.

Warm-up and Cool-down:

Begin with a thorough warm-up to increase blood flow and flexibility, and conclude with a cool-down to prevent stiffness.

Hydration:

Drink plenty of fluids before, during, and after play to avoid dehydration and muscle cramps.

Listen to Your Body:

Pay attention to any pain or discomfort and address it promptly to prevent worsening an injury.

Gradual Increase:

Gradually increase the duration and intensity of play over time to allow your body to adapt.

Proper Techniques:

Learn and practice proper techniques for hitting, serving, and moving on the court.

Strength Training:

Include strength training exercises focusing on the muscles used in pickleball (legs, core, shoulders).

Equipment:

Use a properly fitted racquet and choose a paddle grip size that feels comfortable.

Breaks and Rest:

Take regular breaks during play and allow for rest days between sessions.

By incorporating these suggestions, you will have a better chance of preventing injuries and will have an opportunity to play more pickleball.
