Serving Up Summer

Happy Independence Day from the team at Michael Lynne’s Tennis Shop!

Summer is officially in full swing, which means it’s the perfect time to pull out your racquet or paddle and step onto the court. We've gathered a few ways to help stay active and find great places to play this season!

Find a Court Near You

The U.S. Tennis Association (USTA) provides a Find a Court tool that makes it easy to find new places to play (both outdoor and indoor). Simply enter your ZIP code to find both indoor and outdoor courts in your area:

If you’re looking to find places to play pickleball, here is a similar resource to find courts around you:

Sign Up for Summer Tournaments

Michael Lynne's Tennis Shop is a proud supporter of the North Metro Tennis Association, which hosts five USTA tournaments each summer throughout the Twin Cities metro area. There are still two tournaments remaining in the 2026 season:

Whether you're competing for the first time or you're a seasoned tournament player, these events are a great way to challenge yourself, meet fellow players, and enjoy some friendly competition.

Beat the Heat

Playing during the peak of the Minnesota summer weather can take a toll, which is why it's important to take care of yourself every time you step onto the court. Here are a few tips to help you stay safe and perform your best:

  • Hydrate Early and OftenDon't wait until you're thirsty to start drinking water. Begin hydrating several hours—or even the day before—your match, and continue drinking fluids regularly before, during, and after play.

  • Know the Signs of Heat-Related IllnessWhen playing outdoors, it's important to recognize the warning signs of heat exhaustion and heatstroke. According to the CDC, symptoms can include dizziness, weakness, muscle cramps, nausea, confusion, and shortness of breath.

  • Wear the Right GearWhat you wear can make a big difference in staying comfortable on hot days. Choose light-colored, moisture-wicking clothing to help keep your body cool. Hats or visors, sunglasses, and sweatbands can also provide extra protection from the sun and improve comfort on the court.
